What the TB-500 studies measured.

What TB-500 is	TB-500 is the acetylated seven-amino-acid fragment Ac-LKKTETQ, residues 17 to 23 of thymosin beta-4. It contains the parent protein's actin-binding region but is not the same substance as full thymosin beta-4. FDA briefing document, TB-500-related bulk drug substances. 2026.
Aged-mouse wound study	Researchers applied the non-acetylated fragment, not TB-500, to skin wounds in 26-month-old mice and measured more closure and collagen at day seven. Philp D et al. Wound Repair Regen. 2003.
Eight-hour cell assay	In a fibroblast scratch test, TB-500 itself showed no significant difference in wound closure compared with vehicle. Rahaman KA et al. J Chromatogr B. 2024.
Human data	FDA found no study that gave TB-500 to patients. The human trials on record used full-length thymosin beta-4, in two phase 1 safety studies of healthy volunteers. Ruff D et al. Ann N Y Acad Sci. 2010. Liu J et al. J Cell Mol Med. 2021.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs):

Is TB-500 banned in sport?

Yes. TB-500 is prohibited at all times under section S2.3 of WADA's 2026 Prohibited List, which covers thymosin beta-4 and its derivatives. The ban applies in and out of competition, so TB-500 is not an option for athletes in tested sports. If you are subject to testing, tell your provider during the visit.

How long does TB-500 take to work?

There is no human data on TB-500, so there is no known timeline. In an aged-mouse study, a related non-acetylated fragment was measured at day seven. In an eight-hour cell assay, TB-500 itself showed no significant difference from vehicle. Individual responses vary, and your provider reviews your progress with you.

Can you take TB-500 every day?

Your schedule is set by the prescribing clinician and printed on the label. No dosing study of TB-500 in people exists, so there is no evidence-based daily schedule. If an online protocol suggests daily injections, discuss it with your clinician before changing anything you were prescribed.

Does TB-500 affect testosterone?

No study has measured TB-500's effect on testosterone in people. If you are on testosterone therapy or any other hormone treatment, mention it during your visit so your provider can weigh it with the rest of your health history. The same goes for supplements and any other peptides you take.
