Both strengths carry the same monthly price after the first month, and both include everything below.

Why the troche

Costs a little over half what the spray does.

The troche runs a little over half the monthly price of the nasal spray, so it is the easiest first step onto PT-141. It is also the only route stocked in two strengths.

  • 01
    A strength you can move

1 mg and 2 mg are both stocked. If 1 mg is not enough, the change is a message to your care team, not a new visit.

  • 02
    No clock to watch

You take a troche before you want the evening to go somewhere. There is no timed window to hit.

  • 03
    Discreet by design

A small jar of mini troches. It looks like nothing, and it arrives in a box with nothing on the outside. Shipping is free and it ships cold.

How it reaches you

Under the tongue or in the cheek.

Sublingual means under the tongue. Buccal means between gum and cheek. Both are mucosal placements, which is why a troche is not the same thing as swallowing a peptide.

The molecule

Bremelanotide, the same compound in every PT-141 format

A synthetic analogue of alpha-melanocyte-stimulating hormone that acts as an agonist at the MC3R and MC4R melanocortin receptors.

Diamond LE et al. J Sex Med. 2006;3(4):628-638.

The pathway

Melanocortin receptors sit on the desire circuitry

Melanocortins take part in a range of physiological responses, sexual behaviour among them. PDE5 medicines act further downstream on blood flow.

Diamond LE et al. J Sex Med. 2006;3(4):628-638.

The boundary

No trial has tested a PT-141 troche

Published human research on bremelanotide used the subcutaneous injection and, in early work, an intranasal formulation. There is no route-matched trial for a troche, and we will not pretend there is.

What your label decides

The jar is fixed. The directions are yours.

The strength, the count, and the monthly limit are set by the product. It ships cold and lives in the fridge. Placement and timing are written on the prescription label your provider signs.

Where it is made

Your name is on the jar, and nobody else's.

Your troches are compounded by a licensed 503A compounding pharmacy in the United States. A 503A pharmacy works against a prescription written for one patient, which is why the jar carries your name, your active, and your strength.

PT-141 Troches questions

Know the jar before you start.

Strengths, directions, research, and how a route change works.

How do I take a PT-141 troche?

You let it dissolve in your mouth before anticipated sexual activity, either under the tongue or between gum and cheek. Take no more than one troche in 24 hours and no more than eight in a month. Keep the jar refrigerated between doses. Your prescription label carries the placement and timing directions your provider writes.

Should I start at 1 mg or 2 mg?

That is the provider's call after reading your visit. Many people start at 1 mg. If it is not enough, you message your care team and a provider reviews the change.

What research exists for the troche route?

Published human research on bremelanotide covers the subcutaneous injection and an early intranasal formulation. There is no human outcome or pharmacokinetic trial for a PT-141 troche. What is established is the compound and its action at melanocortin receptors.

Is this the same as Vyleesi?

No. Vyleesi is the FDA-approved 1.75 mg bremelanotide autoinjector for acquired, generalized hypoactive sexual desire disorder in premenopausal women. The Rebody troche is a compounded prescription medication. It is a different product and it does not carry that approval or that indication.

What is in a package?

Eight mini troches at your prescribed strength, prepared by a licensed 503A compounding pharmacy in the United States. It ships cold, it ships free, and there is nothing on the outside of the box that names the medication.

Can I switch to the nasal spray?

Yes. Message your care team and a provider reviews the route change. Your plan and refill timing update from there.

Important safety information

What a provider needs to know before prescribing.

Bremelanotide's approved label is contraindicated in uncontrolled high blood pressure and in known cardiovascular disease. Tell your provider your blood pressure, your heart history, every medicine and supplement you take, whether you take naltrexone, and whether you are pregnant or breastfeeding.

Nausea, flushing, and headache were the reactions most often reported in bremelanotide trials. The approved label also covers a temporary rise in blood pressure, a fall in heart rate, and darkening of skin in patches. Get urgent care for hives, swelling, trouble breathing, chest tightness, or fainting.

The FDA-approved bremelanotide product is Vyleesi, a 1.75 mg subcutaneous autoinjector for acquired, generalized hypoactive sexual desire disorder in premenopausal women. Rebody's troche and nasal spray are compounded prescription medications. They are a different product and they do not carry that approval or that indication.

Compounded medications are not FDA-approved or evaluated by the FDA for safety, efficacy, or quality. Prescription treatment requires a provider decision and is not available in every state.
