Important treatment information
Levothyroxine is the standard treatment for hypothyroidism. Persistent symptoms can prompt a review of treatment and other possible causes. Combination therapy has not shown a consistent advantage in clinical trials; your clinician determines whether it belongs in your care.
Compounded medications are not FDA-approved. FDA does not review their safety, effectiveness or quality before marketing. Excess thyroid hormone can affect the heart and bones. Tell your clinician about pregnancy or pregnancy plans, heart conditions and other medicines.
Thyroid-hormone replacement addresses hormone deficiency. It is not a treatment offer for active hyperthyroidism or a weight-loss program. Your clinician provides all medication directions.
American Thyroid Association: thyroid hormone treatment →Joint thyroid-association consensus on T4/T3 combinations →FDA: understanding compounded medications →It is a prescription preparation containing liothyronine (T3) and levothyroxine (T4). Rebody offers sustained-release capsules in four formulations. A clinician confirms the treatment and final prescription.
You can share your existing treatment during the online visit. Bring your current prescription label, history and available lab reports. The clinician evaluates whether a medication change is appropriate; eligibility is determined during the clinical review.
Yes. Your initial thyroid treatment order includes one at-home Tasso collection kit and lab processing for TSH, free T3, free T4, TPO antibodies, total T3 and total T4. Results appear in your Rebody account. Bring any existing reports to your visit. Your clinician directs follow-up testing, which is separate.
Tell your clinician about the symptoms that remain, including fatigue, brain fog or feeling cold. They can assess your lab results, treatment history, other medicines and possible non-thyroid causes. Symptoms alone do not establish a need for T3 or a different prescription.
Reverse T3 is not routinely useful for diagnosing hypothyroidism in otherwise healthy people outside the hospital, according to the American Thyroid Association. A larger test panel is not automatically more useful. Your clinician determines which tests answer your clinical question.
Yes. Include the diagnosis and relevant laboratory reports in your history. Thyroid-hormone replacement addresses hormone deficiency; a Hashimoto’s diagnosis alone does not establish a need for a compounded T4/T3 combination.
Desiccated thyroid is made from animal thyroid tissue. This compounded preparation contains liothyronine and levothyroxine. Products containing T3 and T4 are not automatically interchangeable; your clinician evaluates the actual preparation.
